REVIEW BY GWEN M. PLANO

This sweet romance story unfolds slowly as a love interest builds between two unlikely characters – cowboy Barrett Lawrence and businesswoman Zoey Crawford. Barrett is a respected resident of Seaside and a private investigator. Zoey has recently inherited a fortune and decides to return to her childhood home of Seaside to reconnect with her relatives. She intends to leave the past behind and begin a new life.

Physical threats soon quicken the pace of this story, and Barrett is hired to protect the young heiress. Overwhelmed and confused, Zoey does not know whom to trust and cannot understand why she is being targeted. Barrett quietly falls in love with Zoey but keeps his feelings in check professionally. After he rescues her from several attempts on her life, Zoey grows to trust him and realizes she’s in love with her protector, Barrett.

Everything is a miracle, even the air we breathe. Every breath we take is a miracle.

-Alexa Verde, Seaside Cowboy’s Love at First Sight

Alexa Verde has crafted an intriguing suspense story. Though a bit predictable, it is nevertheless a story that kept me engaged. I liked watching the glances of attraction between Zoey and Barrett grow into a loving relationship. I also liked the interactions between relatives. The conclusion comes a bit quickly, and the details about the villain are sparse, but all things considered, this was a heartwarming story.

I give this book four very happy fish.

I read the Kindle version of Seaside Cowboy’s Love at First Sight.

  1. Barrett and Zoey do appear to be an unlikely pair. A little romance and a little intrigue makes this sound like a perfect beach reach, and with summer just around the corner, it’s perfect timing. I agree with Zoey, every breath we take is a miracle. I enjoyed this review, Gwen!

  2. I far prefer romantic mystery/romantic suspense to a straight romance, but it’s a shame it was predictable. Still, overall it sounds like a good book, and given how long the series is, it must be a solid read. Thanks for sharing, Gwen.

    1. Thank you, Staci. The characters are memorable and probably travel through the series, which would be reason for me to pick up the next book.

    1. Wouldn’t that be perfect! I’d like to do the same…maybe I’ll read more of the series when I visit relatives at the coast. Thank you, Marsha!

      1. Ah, to have relatives at the coast! There are some definite drawbacks to having a small family. Have a wonderful rest of your spring, Gwen. It looks like you have had some beautiful weather this spring.

  3. I’m glad this is an uplifting and sweet read – but a bit of a shame about the predictability of the plotting, especially as it isn’t a straight romance. Thank you for an informative and honest review:)).
