Review by Gwen M. Plano

Jake Beckett loves his job. He trains service dogs for those who need special assistance. Between his work and his responsibilities for his young twins, there is little time left in the day. His wife died during the birth of their third child and with that tragedy, this life was turned upside down. Myrna, an elderly woman in the same small town as he, occasionally helps him with the children. The youngsters love her like a grandmother.

In this story, Olivia, the real granddaughter of Myrna, visits unexpectedly. She is concerned about her grandmother’s deteriorating eyesight and wants to move her to Florida where she can care for her. As a medical doctor, she believes she knows what is best, and since she is recently divorced, she has time to provide that care.

Oliva and Jake meet because of Myrna. Both love her, but they have different ideas about how to help the beloved elderly woman. Jake is training a pup to be a seeing eye dog. Olivia believes she needs a caregiver. As the story unfolds, the twins get attached to Olivia and she to them. And eventually, Jake realizes he has grown attached as well.

“It’s not blood that makes you family, dear. Love and loyalty bind people together.”

Jill Weatherholt, Their Inseparable Bond

Their Inseparable Bond takes readers into the everyday joys and sorrows that all of us experience at one time or another – family tragedies, medical challenges, trust lost and gained, and love restored by circumstance and/or time. Cradled in the Christian faith, I found this book to be both thoughtful and thought-provoking. Moreover, Weatherholt writes through a lens of kindness, and I found this quality alluring. She treated each character with respect and successfully evoked the same in me. The book is billed as an “inspirational romance.” It is that and more.

I happily give Their Inseparable Bond five fish.

  1. A lovely review for an engaging book, Gwen. I’ve enjoyed every book of Jill’s I’ve read, but this one truly touched my heart. The way she portrayed the relationships between the characters (all of them), was just exquisite. I especially loved the progression of the relationship between Olivia and Kayla.
